Agents' Creative Approaches to Getting Leads in a Tough Market

Don't just survive, thrive with our agents' creative drive!

Agents never get bored – that is a fact! These professionals work tirelessly to ensure their clients are taken care of, no matter what the situation may be. From finding new clients to providing service to existing ones, agents have plenty of work on their plate.

For real estate agents looking for leads in a slow market, it can be difficult to make ends meet. To find out how seasoned agents handle the challenges of slow business, we asked Zillow Premier Agents for their strategies and tactics.

Despite seemingly dead-end leads, pursue them

The best way to get leads is to systematize and go after those you already have rather than hope they will find you or spend your budget looking for new ones.

More business is not always needed. We need to improve our use of existing resources.

Share useful news with your neighbors

You should take advantage of new listings, sales, and open houses to knock on doors. Introducing yourself in your area and handing them the MLS sheet. Since nearby sales may affect home values, ask owners if they would like an update. We estimate that eight out of ten people will say yes to your request, at which point you can ask for their email address so you can follow up. So start knocking. This is a great thing to do in January and February.

Look for expired or canceled listings

We advise agents to go after expired and canceled listings in a slowing market. As we shift toward a balanced or buyer’s market, frustration among sellers increases. The more choices buyers have, the more homes are overlooked, so you are needed to help sellers of those overlooked properties.

Your business does not need to suffer because of a slowdown in the market. Take advantage of your creativity and resourcefulness by calling, going door-to-door, and digging deeper into your database of leads.
